Scott Wavrin, Assitant Coach
Entrusted with weight events, former Dragon Scott Wavrin begins his fourth year with the MSU Moorhead coaching staff in 2008. He returned to the Dragon family in 2005 after two seasons at North Dakota State University.
During his two years on the Bison staff, Wavrin developed four NCAA Division II All-Americans, four North Central Conference champions and 30 NCC placewinners. He also spent one year at Park Christian High School before rejoining the Dragons.
A native of Osseo, Wavrin was an eight-time All-NSIC honoree and a two-time conference champion. He holds the MSUM discus record of 168-0 and logged personal bests of 164-0 in the hammer, 48-0 in the shot put and 53-10 in the weight throw.
A 2001 graduate of MSU Moorhead with a B.S. degree in Exercise Science, Wavrin is certified as a strength and conditioning specialist through the NSC. He is currently working on a Masters of Arts degree. His wife, Christina, competed in swimming for the Dragons and is an assistant swim coach at MSUM.
