Larry Scott, Sports Information Director
Dean of the Minnesota State University Moorhead athletic family, Larry Scott begins his 39th season as MSUM sports information director in 2007.
A 1963 graduate of Alexandria High School, Scott received his BS degree from Moorhead State in 1967 with a major in English. He was appointed the first fulltime SID at MSU Moorhead in 1969. Scott was named sports publicist of the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference in 1970, and continues to work as the league SID for football and wrestling.
Scott filled a three-year term (1984-87) as a college division representative on the Board of Directors of the College Sports Information Directors of America, and was active in NAIA national affairs as well. Scott was inducted into the CoSIDA Hall of Fame in 1991, and presented the Ike Pearson award by the NAIA in 1990. Scott was named to the Dragon Hall of Fame in 1988.
A member of the Roger Maris Celebrity Benefit Golf Tournament Committee, Scott has also served as a member of the media relations committee for the NCAA Division II Women’s Basketball Championships in 2001 and 2002, and the NCAA Division I Men’s Basketball Final Fours in 1992 and 2001. Scott continues as a coordinator for the Daktronics Division II Men’s All-American team as well.
Scott has collected 107 national awards for athletic publications, including 25 "Best in the Nation" certificates, and teaches the Sports and the Media class through the MSUM Mass Communications department. Scott ranks fourth nationally having worked 405 consecutive football games.
