Jason Beschta, Assistant Coach
Fresh from a rewarding international coaching experience, Jason Beschta begins his fourth season as number one assistant on the staff of Stu Engen at Minnesota State University Moorhead.
A former Academic All-American and member of the Baylor University men’s basketball staff, Beschta served as an assistant on Mike Jarvis' coaching staff for the Athletes in Action basketball team that competed in the 2007 Jones Cup in Taipei, Taiwan last summer. The team was composed of 10 players from NCAA Division I universities along with a former professional athlete and a National Christian All-American.
A native of Columbus, OH, Beschta is a 2001 graduate of Bryan College in Dayton, TN with a Bachelor of Science in Exercise Science. The second leading scorer in Bryan College history with 2,138 points, Beschta was a two-time NCCAA second team All-American, NAIA Honorable Mention All-American and NAIA Academic All-American.
Three times voted the Most Valuable Player at Bryan, Beschta was captain-elect as a junior and senior and was a three-time All-AAC choice. He also sparked the Lions to their first NAIA National Basketball Tournament appearance as a junior.
Beschta, 28, served as an assistant coach at Bryan in 2001-02 and accepted a Teaching Assistant post at Baylor in 2002. He was a volunteer assistant coach in 2002-03 and was promoted to a Graduate Assistant position the following year. His duties included pre-season player development, film exchange and breakdown, on-floor coaching, advanced scouting and team preparation, recruiting and scheduling.
Beschta received a Master’s Degree in Sports Pedagogy from Baylor in 2004.
