| [ 05.05.08 ] LONG, ROEMER NAMED MSUM ATHLETES OF THE YEAR Senior quarterback Dustin Long and junior cross-country and track standout Ashley Roemer have been voted Minnesota State Moorhead Student-Athletes of the Year for 2007-08. A two-time national Offensive Player of the Year, Long was named the Dragons' football MVP, the Offensive Player of the Year in the NSIC and set a batch of game, season and career passing records at MSUM. Roemer is a cross-country and track All-NSIC Academic selection at MSUM and recently established new NSIC and MSU Moorhead records of 4,755 points in the heptathlon. She has provisionally qualified for the NCAA Division II Outdoor Track and Field Championships in the 800 meters and is currently ranked fourth nationally. . . |

In addition, legendary Dragon track and cross-country All-American John Tiemann was honored with the 1500 meter men and women champions receiving trophies in his name. | [ 05.01.08 ] WATCH OUT FOR FALLING RECORDS For a second time this week, an established Minnesota State Moorhead outdoor track record evaporated when Sara Julsrud breezed to a time of 62.56 in the 400 hurdles at the Tommie Twilight on Wednesday. Julsrud is ranked 17th nationally. In addition, Anna VanWechel provisionally qualified for the 2008 NCAA Division II Outdoor Track and Field Championships with a 4:39.58 clocking in the 1500 meters. Roemer's record-shattering performance included a flight of 5-8 1/2 in the high jump. Roemer's mark ranks fourth nationally in the NCAA Division II.
