MSUM’S OUREN QUALIFIERS FOR NCAA II REGIONAL MEET
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

REGIONALS- - - Junior Chelsey Ouren will represent Minnesota State University Moorhead at the 2008 NCAA Division II North Central Regional Monday through Wednesday, May 5-7, at Kingswalk golf course in Grand Forks, ND. Tee times have been established at 8 a.m. each day.
LAST WEEK- - - MSUM was idle last week.
SCHEDULE- - - Minnesota State University Moorhead completed its 2007-08 regular season at the UNO Ironwood Collegiate Classic in late April. A scheduled appearance at the Okoboji Invitational was scrubbed because of inclement weather.
SCRUBBED- - - MSU Moorhead’s scheduled appearance at the Okoboji Invitational on Saturday and Sunday at the Emerald Hills golf course in Okoboji, IA was cancelled because of a late April snowstorm.
NSIC CHAMPIONSHIPS- - - MSUM placed fifth with a composite score of 1457 at the spring portion of the 2007-08 Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference Women’s Golf Championships April 17-18, at Fox Run golf course in Yankton, SD. University of Upper Iowa captured the team title with 1251 strokes. Chelsey Ouren earned second team All-NSIC and placed eighth with a 80-86-84-83—333 to top the Dragon leaderboard while Kasey Maier tied for 24th at 90-97-91-86--364 and Erika Hochgraber 29th at 104-90-91-88--373.
UNO IRONWOOD COLLEGIATE CLASSIC- - - MSUM placed seventh in the seven-team field at the UNO Collegiate Classic April 20-21 at Ironwood Country Club in Omaha, NE. Chelsey Ouren led the Dragons with a 88-87—175. Augustana College captured the team title with a composite total of 670 while MSU Moorhead carded a 777.
COACH- - - Tracie Bents is in her eighth season as head coach at MSU Moorhead.

2007 NSIC FALL TOURNEY- - - MSUM finished sixth in an eight-team field at the fall portion of the 2007-08 Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference Championships at Pebble Creek golf club. The tournament concludes with 36 holes next spring. Upper Iowa is in first place with 625 strokes while MSUM shot a combined 740. Chelsey Ouren is tied for 10th on the individual leaderboard with a 80-86—166 while Kasey Maier was second on the Dragon chart with an 90-97--187.
SIOUX INVITATIONAL - - - Minnesota State Moorhead placed seventh in a field of 11 teams at the Sioux Invitational at Grand Forks, ND September 30-1. Nebraska-Omaha captured the team title with a composite stroke total of 627 while MSUM shot a combined 689. Chelsey Ouren tied for 15th with an 83-81--164 while Kasey Maier was second on the Dragon leaderboard with an 81-89--170.
MUSTANG INVITATIONAL- - - Minnesota State Moorhead finished 11th in a 16-team field at the Mustang Invitational at Marshall. University of Nebraska-Omaha captured the team title with a composite stroke total of 632 while MSUM shot a 347-364—711. Chelsey Ouren tied for 12th with an 80-85—165 while Kasey Maier shot an 84-87--171.
CSP INVITE- - - MSU Moorhead placed 12th at the Concordia University Invitational golf tournament September 16-17 at Tartan Park in Lake Elmo. Nebraska-Omaha shot a 632 and defeated Upper Iowa in a playoff while the Dragons logged a composite 744. Junior Chelsey Ouren tied for ninth on the individual leaderboard with an 81-80—161.
HUSKY INVITE- - - Minnesota State Moorhead placed fourth at the four-team Husky Invitational September 8 at Wapicada golf course near Sauk Rapids. MSU, Mankato captured the team title with a composite score of 327, followed by Winona State, 332, St. Cloud State, 346, and MSU Moorhead, 353. Chelsey Ouren finished second overall with a 37-40—77 while Erika Hochgraber tied for 12th with a 41-45—86.
VETERANS- - - The Dragons retain six veterans, including juniors Kerin Hanson (Waconia), Erika Hochgraber (West Fargo, ND), Kali Maatz (Bellingham), Kasey Maier (Elbow Lake), Chelsey Ouren (Fergus Falls) and Amanda Younggren (Hallock).
NEW FACES- - - The latest Dragon roster also contains freshmen Christine Bendel (Madison), Marley Hanson (Crookston), Taylor Partridge (Plymouth) and Kristi Ziegenhagen (Marshall).
NSIC CHAMPIONSHIPS- - - MSU Moorhead placed fifth at the nine-team 2006-07 Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference Championships. The first 36 holes were played at Pebble Creek golf course near Becker last fall and the final 18 holes were played at Fox Run golf course in Yankton, SD. University of Upper Iowa captured the team title with a score of 1,288 while MSUM shot a composite 1,459. Erika Hochgraber and Crystal Meagher shot matching 171s at the second round of the NSIC Tournament, followed by Kasey Maier, 177, and Amanda Younggren, 188.
CONCORDIA INVITE- - - Minnesota State Moorhead placed 13th at the Concordia Invitational last fall with a composite total of 740. North Dakota State University captured the team crown at 644. Sophomore Kasey Maier topped the Dragons with a 91-86—177 followed by senior Crystal Meagher, 85-94--179.
NEXT- - - MSU Moorhead closed their season at the NCAA Division II North Central Regional May 4-7 at Kingswalk golf course in Grand Forks, ND.
