DRAGON ATHLETICS

Mission

The Department of athletics encourages and endorses the goals and objectives of the university and serves to:

  1. meet the competitive and educational needs of the student-athlete
  2. unify the extended university community of students, faculty, staff, alumni, and townspeople
  3. generate a positive image of the university.

DEPARTMENT OF ATHLETICS GOALS

  1. Provide the necessary resources to field competitive teams in all sports within the NSIC and the NCAA Div. II.
  2. Provide the resources to help our student-athletes maintain high academic standards and become better students and citizens of the campus and the community.
  3. Bridge the gap between athletics and the campus community by fostering a communicative and inclusive relationship between faculty, staff, coaches and administrators.
  4. Foster dialogue with the general student population to rekindle pride in “Dragon Athletics” and support for their fellow students, the athletes.
  5. Generate community pride and support for “Dragon Athletics”, thus creating a positive image of the university through athletics.

VALUES

  • P Pride. The department of athletics takes pride in the services that we provide by putting forth our best in recruiting and maintaining quality students and providing quality competition at all times
  • R Resilience. The department of athletics will be resilient in its’ efforts to restore and maintain pride in “Dragon Athletics”.
  • I Integrity. Integrity is the cornerstone of intercollegiate athletics. We will strive to conduct ourselves with class and integrity by being fiscally responsible with our resources and exhibiting institutional control by abiding by the rules of Minnesota State University Moorhead, the NSIC and the NCAA at all times.
  • D Dedication. As a department, we are dedicated to carry out our mission, our goals and maintain the values under which we operate.
  • E Excellence. We will continually strive for excellence in recruiting, academics, student-athlete welfare, public relations and competition.
