[ 05.10.08 ]DRAGON WOMEN PLACE SECOND, MEN FOURTH AT NSIC OUTDOOR Minnesota State Moorhead women placed second while the Dragon men finished fourth at the 2008 Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference Outdoor Track and Field Championships at Wayne, NE. The two-day affair concluded on Saturday with Wayne State claiming the men's title and University of Mary the women's crown. Ashley Roemer was a triple winner for the Dragons in the heptathlon, high jump and 800 meters and was a member of the winning 4 x 400 and 4 x 800 relay teams while Anna VanWechel swept the 1500 and 5000 meters. Ashley Roemer was awarded the NSIC Women's High Point Perforner & NSIC Women's Field Athlete of the Year while Anna Van Wechel was awarded with the NSIC Women's Newcomer of the Year. . . [ 05.05.08 ]LONG, ROEMER NAMED MSUM ATHLETES OF THE YEAR Senior quarterback Dustin Long and junior cross-country and track standout Ashley Roemer have been voted Minnesota State Moorhead Student-Athletes of the Year for 2007-08. A two-time national Offensive Player of the Year, Long was named the Dragons' football MVP, the Offensive Player of the Year in the NSIC and set a batch of game, season and career passing records at MSUM. Roemer is a cross-country and track All-NSIC Academic selection at MSUM and recently established new NSIC and MSU Moorhead records of 4,755 points in the heptathlon. She has provisionally qualified for the NCAA Division II Outdoor Track and Field Championships in the 800 meters and is currently ranked fourth nationally. . . |
