Student Learning Outcomes

  1. Students will know literacy research and theory.

  2. Student will know cultural dimensions of literacy.

  3. Students will understand theories and beliefs about reading, instruction, and assessment.

  4. Students will organize and advance reading programs.

  5. Student will know a significant body of literature for children and young adults, including literature in many genres and from a diversity of cultures.

  6. Students will apply several critical and theoretical approaches to an interpretation of literature for children and young adults.

  7. Students will apply strategies for reading literature.

  8. Students will know techniques that film uses to tell a story.

  9. Students will design unites that focus on the teaching of literature as a discipline.
