Candidates in the Master of Science in Curriculum and Instruction study educational foundations, curriculum theory, instructional practices and educational research with an emphasis on critical reflection. The four program areas (i.e., A-D) are divided into the programmatic themes as noted below. Objectives and assessment measures are then identified for the programmatic themes. A)
Program Area: Foundations of Education Programmatic Themes: Purposes of School and Relationship of Society to Schools Objectives: 2) Demonstrated knowledge of historical, psychological, philosophical, multicultural, economic and social contexts of schooling. Program Area: Curriculum and Instruction Programmatic Themes: Learning for Inquiry and Teacher as Decision Maker Objectives: 2) Demonstrated knowledge of social and technological developments affecting curriculum Assessments: Measure 1- Action Research Project Assessment C)
