The Student will

Measurement Strategies
1. Synthesize principles, theories, and concepts from nursing, the natural and social sciences, arts and humanities to enhance nursing practice. a. Demonstrate a perception of the client as a total personality (biological, psychological, social, cultural).

b.
Demonstrate the ability to problem-solve and make decisions or judgments for nursing actions.

c. Uses teaching/learning concepts and strategies in working with clients.         
d. Utilizes research findings related to area of practice.

e. Demonstrates ability to interact and clearly
communicate with others.
1.1 Poster presentation of clinical experience that illustrates nursing care addressing all human needs of client (guidelines under development)

1.2 Average (3.0) score on preceptor evaluation sheet (5=excellent, 1=needs improvement)

1.3 Achieve "Much of the time" scores on appropriate categories on the "Faculty Evaluation of Student Performance at Graduation" completed by advisor in consultation with entire Faculty.

1.4 "Agree" or "Strongly agree" with at least 70% of program evaluation statements on Senior Self-Evaluation Questionnaire

3. Use critical and analytical thinking in deliberative decision-making a. Demonstrate critical thinking in analysis and synthesis course papers.

b. Demonstrate improvement in critical thinking skills.

a. At least 70% score on grading sheets that identify critical thinking processes as the major criteria. (Draft of template for score sheet for course papers, score sheets for two course papers)

b. Scores on California Critical Thinking Skills Test will show aggregate increase of 10 % from pretest (admission, Jr. yr) to posttest (program completion, Sr. yr.)

6. Provide nursing care to increasingly complex and diverse client systems a. Demonstrate safe, competent, nursing care to 'well' and 'ill' families.

b. Demonstrate assessment and planning of health care for groups and communities.

a. At least 30 of 50 points score on Community-Based nursing clinical health record that identifies elements of the nursing process.

b. At least 70% score on health care plans that identity elements of health care assessment and planning.  (guideline under development)

8. Determine goals for realizing one's potential as an individual, professional, and member of society a. Demonstrate self-awareness on both a personal and professional level

b. Demonstrate increased self-awareness at completion of the nursing program

8.a.l. At least 70% on Self-Assessment paper using Ego-Development Model

8.a.2. At least 70% on Evaluation of Nursing Interaction and Change seminar

8.b.1 Increase of 10% on California Psychological Inventory score from pretest (admission, Jr. yr.) to posttest (program completion, Sr. yr.)

8.b.2. Increase of 10% on the Gambrill-Richey Assertiveness Inventory from pretest (admission, Jr. yr.) to posttest (program completion, Sr. yr.)
