Exit Questionnaire
I. Performance Goals:
The Computer Science and Information Systems Department has
developed the following ten performance goals (with subgoals) to use as a basis of our
assessment plan for Computer Science majors (COMS).
1. Writing skills needed to communicate appropriately in a
highly technical area.
good grammar, spelling and punctuation
logical organization of ideas in a document
good presentation of ideas in a document
2. Oral skills needed to communicate appropriately in
logical organization of an oral presentation
good delivery of an oral presentation
appropriate use of visual aids in an oral presentation
3. Understand the legal, ethical and social issues in the
computing discipline.
4. Demonstrate competence in all phases of the Software
Development Life Cycle.
Analysis
Design
Coding
Testing
Maintenance
Ongoing documentation for all the above phases.
5. Understand algorithm analysis, design and implementation
techniques.
6. Understanding of data structures theory.
7. Understanding of operating systems theory.
8. Understanding of language translation theory.
9. Understanding of system and software engineering
theory.
10. Understanding of computer architecture theory.
II. The above goals are included in the following two
assessment instruments:
1. An Upper Division Course Rating Sheet (see above).
Faculty members teaching
CSIS 320, 335, 340, 346, 355, 430, 435, 440, 444, and 445 will rate the
students in
those courses on items related to the above performance goals. This
will be done in addition
to the traditional grading which is a more global assessment tool.
2. A Senior Exit Questionnaire (see above). When applying for
graduation, seniors will
be required to complete an exit questionnaire which addresses the above
performance goals.
