  • Recommended Activities for Category One:
    Learning Within the Major

    College of Arts & Humanities

    • Undergraduate research, creative activity, or scholarship which involves formal presentation and peer review; for example, giving a graphic arts presentation to faculty in partial fulfillment of the application for a departmental scholarship or making a presentation at the Student Academic Conference.
    • Supervised internship in a professional setting where skills and knowledge can be used and strengthened; for example an English major with a writing emphasis has a writing-focused internship for one semester with a local agency

    College of Education & Human Services

    • Develop a presentation for the Student Academic Conference.
    • Attend a professional conference or other professional opportunity related to the student's major, and write reflection paper on what was learned and how it applies to previous learning. 

    College of Social & Natural Sciences

    • Students will participate for at least 20 hours in a research or creative activity with a faculty member and will present the results of this project to an audience.
    • Students will attend a minimum of 20 hours of non-classroom lectures, workshops, or training sessions in their discipline.
