Professor John Volk was born in Minneapolis, MN in 1961 and came to art by chance and later in life. While studying physics in college, he took an art course that changed his perspective and life forever. Committing himself to an art career and studying accordingly – attaining an undergraduate degree in printmaking from MSU Moorhead, and a graduate degree in painting from the New York Academy of Art.
After working as an artist in New York City for ten years, he has recently returned to Fargo, ND and is working as well as teaching drawing, design and printmaking at Minnesota State University Moorhead.
