Records Management
Chapter 138.17 of the Minnesota State Statutes requires all state institutions, including the University, to "establish and maintain an active, continuing program for the economical and efficient management of the records" of the institution. Important records of the University, including the records of each department, each division, and each major office in the University, must be saved.
By obeying the provisions of this state law, we save important records for two other reasons. First, we save every kind of material that has enduring administrative value. Secondly, records are saved for their historical value.
