  • Location - On the campus of Minnesota State University Moorhead, 1104 7th Avenue South, Livingston Lord Library, Fourth Floor, Room 409.
     
  • Mission - The Northwest Minnesota Historical Center, established in 1972, is affiliated with the Minnesota Historical Society. Its mission is to preserve information on the history and culture of the Red River Valley, including records on settlement, agriculture, government, business, folklore, and ethnic heritage of the region.  The staff of the Center will assist all patrons in finding information from the collections and records.  Although most records preserved are open to the public, some records have restricted access.
     
  • Services
    • Copying - Specific items from the collections, including documents, photographs, and tapes, may be copied for researchers, if the donors restrictions and the condition of the material permits this to be done. The Center charges only for the costs of copying, plus mailing if applicable.  Contact the Center for further details.
       
    • Interarchival Loan Agreement - Access to records of other historical repositories, including the Elwyn B. Robinson Department of Special Collections located at the University of North Dakota, the Institute for Regional Studies located at North Dakota State University, and some materials from the Minnesota Historical Society and the State Historical Society of North Dakota, is possible.  Contact the Center for further details.
