HISTORICAL SKETCH
Moorhead Public Library maintains a collection of records of government bodies that are headquartered within the city. This collection consists of the public records of the various Moorhead city commissions and other bodies, several governmental bodies of Clay County, and a number of special, district-wide groups.
It should be stressed that the Moorhead Public Library does not receive these records as a designated depository for any of these organizations. These are the records of groups that have responded to the Library’s request for copies. Consequently, the entire collection is not a comprehensive documentation of all governmental functions in Moorhead. Many of the most important bodies are represented, however, and a great deal of valuable material is contained in the collection.
The materials from the Moorhead Public Library are transferred to the Northwest Historical Center on a regular basis.
COLLECTION DESCRIPTION
Among the many governmental bodies included in the collection are the Clay County Board of Commissioners, the Clay County Planning Commission, the Moorhead City Council, the Clay-Wilkin Opportunity Council, the Moorhead Public Library Board, and the Buffalo-Red River Watershed District. The majority of the records in the collection are minutes, annual reports, and special studies of the particular groups. All of the material is in excellent condition.
