HISTORICAL SKETCH

The local chapter [Moorhead, Minnesota], formed in 1956, served as a local union representing member professors as a body in any disputes with the administration.  The last years of the chapter were spent working to become the bargaining agent.  The chapter’s defeat in this endeavor led to its demise.

COLLECTION DESCRIPTION

The AAUP records are a collection of all surviving documents and correspondence of the Moorhead State College chapter from 1956-1976.  Included in the collection are policy statements and correspondence from the national headquarters and Minnesota State Conference.  Internal documents include minutes of meeting, memos to members and surviving correspondence.  Also included are the various local, state, and national constitutions and amendments.
