Dieter Berninger, Ph.D. Office Location: Dieter Berninger has taught at MSUM since 1970. With a Doctorate in Latin American History (University of Wisconsin-Madison) he initially did most of his teaching in the History Department. Later, he began offering courses in Multicultural Studies (primarily in Latino Studies) and currently teaches survey courses on race and ethnicity for the American Multicultural Studies Department. He continues to teach courses on Latin America for the History Department, among those are courses which reflect his long-standing interest in Mexico and Precolumbian Civilizations. In recent years, his focus has also included the topic of genocide in cross-cultural experience. In 2001, he was co-organizer of the MSUM "Cultural Competency Workshop" which brought members of the Fargo-Moorhead Bosnian, Sudanese, Somali, Hispanic, Asian-American and Native American communities to our campus. |
