Appeals for Financial Aid and Academic Suspension

  • To appeal a Financial Aid or Academic Suspension, contact the Academic Resource Office.
  • If you wish to challenge an established policy at MSUM, file your appeal through the Academic Affairs Office in Owens 206.

Academic Suspension

Students on academic probation who do not meet the minimum semester requirements (2.0 term GPA or higher, 66.66% term completion rate or higher) will be suspended. Students who are suspended have the opportunity to appeal.

After you have carefully read the policies and procedures for the appeals process, please fill out an appeal form and return it to the ARO as soon as possible so that it can be reviewed in a timely fashion.

Fall Semester 

For summer attendees: Immediately after summer grades are posted, no later than 7 days before fall classes begin. For prior attendees: August 1 of the same year.

Spring Semester

For fall attendees: Immediately after fall grades are posted, no later than 6 calendar days before spring classes begin. For prior attendees: by November 1 of the preceding year.

Summer Semester 

For spring attendees: Immediately after spring grades are posted, no later than 6 calendar days before summer classes begin. For prior attendees: by April 1 of the same year.
