    We welcome students who have left Minnesota State University Moorhead for one or more semesters and would like to return. This application is for students who have earned credits at MSUM in the past and "stopped out" and would like to return. This application is not for students who were admitted and never registered for classes at MSUM.

    Please follow these steps to reapply for admission to MSU Moorhead:

  • Reinstatement from Academic Suspension Checklist

    • Complete the online or PDF application for returning student form found on the MSUM Admissions web site. Submit the application at least 45 days prior to the semester you would like to attend.
        
    • If you have attended any college/university since you last were enrolled at MSU Moorhead please provide official transcript(s) to update your MSU Moorhead admissions file. If you attended a Minnesota State Colleges and University (MnSCU) school we will be able to get these transcripts automatically.
        
    • Once we have received your application for returning students, and any transcripts of a college/university you attended since leaving MSU Moorhead, your application will be processed. You will be notified of your returning student application status.
        
    • If you have not received notification within one week of submitting your application for returning student please contact the Admissions Office at 218.477.2161.
        

    After your returning student application has been processed by the Admissions Office:

    • Follow the directions noted in your reinstatement letter. All meetings outlined in the letter need to be completed at least 30 days prior to the semester.
        
    • Complete the free application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) www.fafsa.gov. If you have questions related to your financial aid please contact the Financial Aid Office at 218.477.2251.
        
    • If we do not have your FAFSA on file with the Office of Scholarship and Financial Aid at MSUM submit a minimum payment of $300 to MSUM’s Business Services office on tuition/fee charges to maintain class registration. Please go to www.mnstate.edu/business-services for up-to-date payment deadlines.
        

     

     

    Returning Students Checklist (Students in Good Academic Standing)

    • Complete the online or PDF application for returning student form found on the Admissions web page and submit it at least 30 days prior to the semester you would like to attend.
        
    • If you have attended any college/university since you last attended MSU Moorhead please provide official transcript(s) to update your MSU Moorhead admissions file. If you attended a Minnesota State Colleges and University (MnSCU) school we will be able to get these transcripts automatically.
        
    • Once we have received your application for returning students, and any transcripts of a college/university you attended since leaving MSU Moorhead your application will be processed. We will inform you of your readmission, or if there are any holds which prevent you from being readmitted.
        

    After readmission, here are a few things to do:

    • Complete the free application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) www.fafsa.gov
        
    • Activate your StarID and Password to access Eservices follow the directions on the link provided www.mnstate.edu/starid, or e-mail support@mnstate.edu.
        
    • Contact your academic major department advisor, or chairperson, to set-up an advising appointment. Register for classes.
        
    • Reactivate your Dragon Email account at dragonmail.mnstate.edu
        
    • If we do not have your FAFSA on file with the Office of Scholarship and Financial Aid at MSUM submit a minimum payment of $300 to MSUM’s Business Services office on tuition/fee charges to maintain class registration. Please go to www.mnstate.edu/business-services for up-to-date payment deadlines.
        

     


  • Please be aware that admission is not automatic. You will be readmitted to your original status and major unless you request a change.
