Pre-Dentistry @ MSUM

Dental schools expect students to complete certain requirements before applying for admission. For example, the University of Minnesota School of Dentistry requires a minimum of one year each of English, biology, physics, general chemistry, organic chemistry, some mathematics, and psychology. Like most universities, MSUM does not have a pre-dental degree program. Although no major is required, the majority of our students follow a degree program in chemistry or biology to provide a career alternative. MSUM offers all required courses as well as electives preferred by dental schools. Most pre-dental students apply to dental school during their third year.

We welcome pre-dentistry students to MSUM and we provide entering students with the educational opportunity necessary to be admitted into dental school. Acceptance into dental school is on a competitive basis so we cannot guarantee admission, however, MSUM students have had excellent success in gaining entrance to professional schools. In the past five years all of the pre-dental students who applied were accepted.
