MSU Moorhead University's Music Department provides students a high quality liberal arts education tailored to contemporary artistic and professional challenges. Degree options include a cutting-edge music industry program, vocal and instrumental teacher education, and performance and composition. All serious pursuits are encouraged, and the department presents an extensive schedule of performances as diverse as medieval chamber works to rock, sophisticated jazz and the latest `new' music. All music majors participate in one or more of the 14 musical groups available, as well as study a series of courses that survey music history and theory and develop musicianship skills. Music classes are generally small enough to allow much personal interaction with professors. An expanding scholarship program is available to all students, new and returning.
