Minnesota State University Moorhead’s degree program in Health Services Administration wasestablished in 1998 and is structured as a comprehensive curriculum (Science, business, social sciences,and health care management) that permits specialization in various domains of health care delivery. Theprogram prepares students to bea future health care leader,eligible to practice in the field ofhealth and aging serviceadministration.
MSUM’s Bachelor of Sciencedegree program in HealthServices Administration offers theundergraduate student an extensive educational experience focused on today’s issues, dedicated andcommitted faculty with real world experiences, and a commitment for the development of each student inreaching their fullest potential. Our goal is to provide a learning experience that prepares the healthcareleaders of tomorrow and develops the interpersonal skills of each individual student to be productivecitizens. Graduates of MSUM’s Health Services Administration program will have an academicunderstanding of health services management, coupled with practical experiences through an internshipin a premier healthcare organization. Elective courses allow students an opportunity to specialize invarious health care delivery fields such as Health Services Management, Elder Services Management,Ambulatory Services Management, and Foundation Management.

Field Experience and Internships
Students in the MSUM Health Services Administration program complete a planned practicum which isrelated to their course of study. This 480-hour internship is designed to provide practical experiencebased upon the theoretical foundations learned in the classroom. Each student develops skills in the areaof problem solving, strategic planning, financial analysis, human resource coordination, and leadership.
Student Organization
The MSUM Health Services Administration program sponsors a student chapter of the American Collegeof Healthcare Executives. This student organization provides an opportunity to network with healthcareadministrators, enhances personal development, and establishes a connection for job placement.
Emphasis in Long Term Care Administration
Students may concentrate on an emphasis in Long Term Care Administration by completing 11 credits ofapproved course work in the field of gerontology. Licensure is available to students completing therequirements for a bachelor’s degree, completing a required internship, and passing state and nationalexaminations.
