NEWS & UPDATES
Thanks to all those who made this year's conference a great success! We had 436 presenters and 258 presentation on April 9th. You can view last year's projects using the applications site to possibly gather helpful insight on the conference while we get ready for next year.
The application deadline after the extension is today. The online application closes at midnight tonight. The hard copy applications will not be able to be dropped off after the post office on campus closes this afternoon. February 14th, 2008 The deadline to submit application the this year's Student Academic Conference has been extended until February 18th. Some people have run into an error when attempting to view the application web pages, the error your browser may give you is something along the lines: "The XML page cannot be displayed Cannot view XML input using XSL style sheet. Please correct the error and then click the Refresh button, or try again later." This is related to the improper installation or configuration of the Microsoft .NET framework or Microsoft Internet Explorer on updated computers. The issue is machine specific, if your browser gives you that error, try a different computer or a different web browser such as Firefox 2. If you are just plain running an older operating system or older browser it is incapable of rendering these pages due to modern features/technology. Specifically the browser will not recognize the site is CSS and XHTML and attempts to render it as straight XML resulting in such an error, or in the case of especially old configurations, no page at all (ex. Windows 2000 and IE5) February 5th, 2008 2008 Student Academic Conference Keynote address has been announced: Student Academic Conference Keynote Address "Dragons Roar into a Sustainable Future" Dr. Karen Braden, Assistant Professor of Sociology at Minnesota State University Moorhead, will be the keynote speaker at this year's Student Academic Conference. Her presentation, "Dragons Roar into a Sustainable Future" will highlight her passion for environmental issues. Dr. Braden's dedication to this important cause includes her involvement on the MSUM Green Fee and Sustainable Campus Initiative Committee, her extensive research and her recent book From McEnergy to Ecoenergy: America's Transition to a Sustainable Energy co-authored with Dr. Dennis Jacobs. January 29th, 2008 The Student Presenter information sessions will be held Thursday, March 27 at 9-10am in MA 172 and Monday, March 31st at 3-4pm in MA 172. It is chance for students to ask questions pertaining to presentation guidelines, schedule, or format. They will also be provided with tips. The attendance is not required of the presenters, but offered as support. January 10th, 2008 The online application has been made available. Submission of the application may take longer than expected because of a difficulty with the university's SQL server. November 26th, 2007 You'll start seeing posters for the Student Academic Conference this week, the online application will be up soon after them. Students who wish to present have until February 11th 2008 to submit their application.
