Shaw read an email message from Danbom: Is there any way that the PFY courses that are taught as a block can get designation as writing-intensive by combining the assignmentsno one course in the PFY block can commit to having all the writing assignments. All of the courses have different units, lesson plans, reflections, journals, etcbut they are spread across the block of courses. I am trying to find a course other than EECE 441 (childrens lit) in the ELED major that can fulfill the requirement for transfer students-in case the transfer student has childrens literature from a different university. No transfer gets out of PFY so we thought it would be best (to) have it there. The pros and cons of the
issue were discussed and suggestions were made. Danbom agreed to
follow-up with faculty in the Discussion ensued on the larger concern regarding transfer students. It was agreed that Shaw would initiate a campus-wide call for comment on the topic via email. Further discussion on the topic will be held next semester. Update on Coding Course Sections as Writing-Intensive: Tabled Spring Meeting Time: A spring meeting time has not been scheduled. Members will be notified as soon as a timeslot opens. |
