Writing-Intensive Proposal Information

To propose a course for Writing-Intensive (W) course designation:

  1. Consult the Writing-Intensive Course Definition and Guidelines.

  2. Courses should be submitted at least one semester in advance of proposed offering.

  3. Save a copy of the Request for Writing-Intensive Course Designation form and enter the course information according to the directions on the form.

  4. Complete and attach the APAC Signature/Checklist to the proposal. Signatures must be obtained from the department chairperson/director, Academic Dean, and appropriate committee chairs as needed.

  5. Email the completed form and all supporting materials as an attachment to: uwrite@mnstate.edu. Forward the original signed proposal and the APAC Cover Sheet/Checklist to: Michael McCord, Acting Chair, University Writing Committee.

Note: If the proposal also seeks Dragon Core designation, the course proposal is submitted to the University Writing Committee prior to being reviewed by the Dragon Core Committee. Consult the Dragon Core website for submission procedures.
