Getting Started
-
Students will work with their academic advisors to develop plans for what will be accomplished in each of the six categories of the Distinction in Engagement program. Once agreed upon, in principle, the students will complete the Distinction in Engagement Proposal form and secure the signatures of the advisor and the College Dean/designee. The Dean’s office will retain the original and be responsible for sending copies to the students and to the students’ advisor for the advising files. The primary responsibility for developing the engagement activity rests with the student.
-
After each of the engagement activities is accomplished, students complete an Activity Report form. Students obtain their advisors’ signature on the form and send the form to the Records Office. The student’s DARS audit will be updated and the form forwarded to the College Dean’s office to be included in the student’s file.
-
When the six engagement activities are completed, students will complete the Self-Reflection Report form. Students obtain their advisor’s and College Dean’s signatures on the form and sent to the Records Office. The student’s DARS audit will be updated and the form forwarded to the College Dean’s office to be included in the student’s file.
-
In consultation with the Career Services Office students prepare professional resumes. Students complete the Resume Report form, obtain the signature of a Career Services staff member who has reviewed their resume and their advisor, and send the form to the Records Office. The student’s DARS audit will be updated and the form forwarded to the College Dean’s office to be included in the student’s file.
-
When students apply for graduation their DARS audit will indicate completion of the six activities, the resume, and the self-reflective paper. Paper copies of their documentation will be available in their respective College Dean’s office.
