Minutes Dragon Core Assessment Committee August 27, 2007 3:00
p.m. Present:
Jean Sando, chair; Ellen Brisch, Tim Decker, Ellen Hill,
Rajiv Kalra, Mike McCord, Margaret Sankey, Stacy Voeller Minutes: Moved by Hill, seconded by Decker to approve the April 25, 2007, minutes. The motion was approved unanimously. Data from IPESL Foundation Four Assessment Projects: Data compilations for the Foundation Four courses was distributed, reviewed and discussed. The rubrics used to assess the artifacts and the data results will be posted to Dragon Core assessment webpage along with a general description of what the data means. Foundation Four Withdrawal Data: A preliminary compilation of data on course withdrawals for New Entering Freshmen enrolled in Foundation Four courses for Fall 2006 and Spring 2007 was distributed, reviewed and discussed. Revised Foundation Four Course Student Leaning Outcomes: Revised Student Learning Outcomes, endorsed by the IPESL Work Groups, were distributed, reviewed and discussed. Moved by McCord, seconded by Decker to forward the revised Foundation Four Student Learning Outcomes (SLOs) to the Dragon Core Committee for approval, as the next step in the governance process. The motion was approved unanimously. It was suggested that the Dragon Core Committee review the SLOs for integration with the other IPESL Projects that addressed the Foundation Four courses. It was also suggested that open forums on the revised SLOs be held by the Dragon Core Committee prior to forwarding the revisions to APAC. Sando and Brisch agreed to schedule a meeting with VP Midgarden to discuss procedures and a timeline for approval of the revised SLOs. Discussion ensued on format for the open forums. The forums will be used to discuss the Student Competencies of the four areas, and to gather input on the types of artifacts for both Inner Cluster and Middle Cluster courses that can be used for assessment and how to collect the artifacts. |
