Vacancy Advertisements
The excessive cost of advertising positions in many sources has been a concern in recent years. For example, a single ad in The Star Tribune normally has exceeded $600.00.
It has been agreed to do short individual ads that include clear references to the University web site where additional information and appropriate forms can be found. We feel this approach is in keeping with the recent shift towards use of more electronic information. In addition, complete vacancy notices are posted on the MSUM web site and also in Higher Ed Jobs Online, found at http://www.higheredjobs.com/ .
Please check the Chronicle's web site for instructions on how to place a job advertisement along with the deadlines for recruitment advertising.
Each ad should indicate:
- Department Name and/or Position Title
- Type of Appointment (tenure track or fixed term - the phrase ?fixed-term? has meaning for us, but it does not necessarily communicate much to an external audience.)
- Percent of Time if not full time
- Experience Level or Highest Rank Authorized
- Specialty Desired
- Minimum Degree Requirement
- Preferred Degree Requirements
- Start Date
- Search Committee Chair's Address including Phone or E-mail Address, if desired
- Initial Screening Date
- MSUM Web Address for Vacancy Notice Postings or Further Information http://www.mnstate.edu/vacancy/Index.htm .
In cases where more information is considered important, longer ads may be approved by your dean or director.
