Financial Aid & Suspension Appeals
Please note the following information before you fill out the Suspension Appeals form.
The Suspension Appeals Committee is appointed by the President of MSUM to make decisions regarding exceptions  to the University's suspension policy.  In summary, the Committee is given the task of ascertaining why the circumstances surrounding your suspension are so out of the ordinary that the policies regarding suspension at MSUM should either not be applied or should be substantially altered.  In other words, as you consider this appeal, look at your own particular situation and argue convincingly why you should be readmitted to MSUM when the majority of  suspended students are not allowed back before the designated suspension period has passed.  Why is your situation so unique that you should be treated differently?

Make sure to include documentation from physicians or other health professionals if you are claiming that physical or mental health events prevented you from successfully completing your courses. All students need to explain why you were unable to withdraw from school or make arrangements with your Professors for avoiding poor grades.

The members of the Suspension Appeals Committee sincerely hope you succeed at MSUM.  Remember, however, that we trust the integrity of the grading system at MSUM, respect the suspension policies developed by our faculty, and treat suspension very seriously.  As a consequence, we will allow students back early only in unusual circumstances.

DESIRED SEMESTER OF RETURN APPLICATION DEADLINE
Fall Semester  For summer attendees: Immediately after summer grades are posted, no later than 7 days before fall classes begin. For prior attendees: August 1 of the same year.
Spring Semester For fall attendees: Immediately after fall grades are posted, no later than 6 calendar days before spring classes begin. For prior attendees: by November 1 of the preceding year.
Summer Semester  For spring attendees: Immediately after spring grades are posted, no later than 6 calendar days before summer classes begin. For prior attendees: by April 1 of the same year.
