Student Involvement

The English Department offers a variety of opportunities for students to become involved and active in the English community outside of the classroom.

Sigma Tau Delta

Sigma Tau Delta is the MSUM English Honor Society whose mission is striving for excellence and awareness of the literary arts and scholarship. The MSUM chapter is active in organizing community readings, participating in book drives, attending literary events and the annual National Sigma Tau Delta conference.

Red Weather

Red Weather is an annual print journal of poetry, prose and visual arts edited and designed by students at Minnesota State University Moorhead.

Red Weather highlights the original work of current and past members of Minnesota State University Moorhead’s creative community. Every spring, Red Weather publishes a print journal of new and compelling prose, poetry, and visual art.

Write Site

The mission of the Write Site is to:

• Assist students in improving their writing proficiency and independence during the various stages of their writing assignments
• Provide a supportive environment where writers and readers work efficiently one-to-one
• Train writing tutors to become effective readers of and responders to texts from various disciplines

Theory and Methods of Tutoring Writing (ENGL 395, Spring semester only) is a required course for students interested in becoming Write Site consultants. This lab class not only helps students strengthen personal writing skills, but also helps students develop one-on-one teaching skills.
