Service Learning projects give students the opportunity to make relevant, meaningful connections between classroom instruction and real-life situations. This enriching component is offered in 30 percent of Communication Studies courses. Projects are assigned to coincide with students’ passions and are integrated into the students’ academic curriculum. Students apply knowledge and skills acquired in class to help design, plan, market, implement and assess their unique projects. Students are able to use critical thinking and planning to help address genuine community needs.
