  • Graduate Admission

Thank you for your interest in graduate studies at Minnesota State University Moorhead. Effective August 1, 2014, all applicants for graduate admission will be utilizing the new online graduate admission system, developed by Minnesota State Colleges and Universities (MnSCU). This system will provide applicants with a totally online process. The Graduate Studies Office anticipates that the only items that will need to be processed outside of this online system are transcripts and official test scores. Features of this system include:

    • Submit online application
    • Pay your application fee online
    • Upload required program documents
    • Upload essays, resume, letter of intent
    • Send your references a link via email and your completed reference will automatically be uploaded to your application file
    • Applicants will have the ability to monitor their own progress

  • Graduate Application Deadlines and Review

    • Only complete applications are reviewed
    • Programs with priority and firm deadlines
      • All application materials must be received prior to the posted deadline:
        • Counseling and Student Affairs, priority deadline for Spring 2015 is September 15, 2014
        • Counseling and Student Affairs, priority deadline for Fall 2015 is February 15, 2015
        • School Psychology, priority deadline for Fall 2015 is February 15, 2015
        • Speech-Language Pathology, firm deadline for Fall 2015 is February 1, 2015. There is a January 1 deadline for international students.
    • Applications to all other degree programs, certificates/licensures, and non-degree requests have the following deadlines:
      • Fall 2014 Semester deadline is August 15, 2014
      • Spring 2015 Semester deadline is November 15, 2014
      • Summer 2015 deadline is May 1, 2015

  • Program/Certificate/Licensure Admission

Admission to a graduate degree, graduate certificate, or licensure option, is considered only after all required application materials have been received and reviewed. Incomplete files are not reviewed. Upon receipt of the completed application, including all required materials, the file is forwarded to the program for review. The program reviews all complete files for admission or denial based on the program requirements and returns the file to the Graduate Studies Office. A formal acceptance or denial is sent to the applicant by the Dean of Graduate Studies with copies to the Program Coordinator.

The following admission categories will be used by the Graduate School:

    Full Standing
This status is used when all program admission requirements are fully met.

    Provisional
This status is used when students show potential for success in a graduate program. The graduate program coordinator and the Dean of Graduate Studies determine the specific provisions that must be met by the student before full standing can be granted.

    Denial
This status is used when students do not meet the program admission requirements.
