Each learning community has 2-3 common courses which have been identified as learning community courses. The common courses during the fall semester lay the foundation for our communities. University administrators, college deans and faculty members have specifically designed our learning communities to have a common course component.
Our students have reported positive feedback about common courses specific to the Learning Community. In the Spring of 2014 we will be piloting spring semester common courses in some of our communities. We hope to implement a common course component to Spring 2015 to some of our learning communities. The specific community webpages will be updated as we move forward in adding common courses for Learning Communities.
Students, parents and university administrators have seen tremendous growth and success among learning community participants. Research on college student success has proven that learning community students on average earn higher GPAs, have greater opportunities to interact with faculty outside of the classroom, and have an easier transition to life as a college student. MSUM is committed to co-curricular experience that will enhance your academic success as s student. Common courses for Learning Communities are just one way we will help you succeed!
