The talents of Ray Bjerke, Physical Plant machinist/welder and train builder extrordinaire, were enlisted. The first thing to do was to strip the Dragon Special and assess its mechanical adaptability to becoming a train. It did not take long to discover that retrofitting a 1957 Ford chassis into a train was not going to be easy. Lloyd Ness quickly convinced both Ray and Todd to look into other chassis types for adaptability. Ray scoured the salvage yards with the help of Ryan Fleming, student employee, and together they found a 1983 Chevy S-10 pickup that would fit the bill. | ![]()
